It’s Science w/ Marcelo Garcia

There are few competitors as accomplished as Marcelo Garcia. He is is a competitor that is recognized as much for his accomplishments as he is his particular style. We took a closer look at what makes Marcelo so successful in this weeks episode of “It’s Science”. The video above is a quick overview of the larger study conducted below.

We did a micro-evaluation, similar to what we provide for competitors, that broke down 10 of Marcelo’s matches over the past 8 years. We have only included techniques and information below that WAS recorded. That means that anything that did not occur isn’t featured below (to save us all time).

The trends you see in the numbers are his game.  Notice how simple his actual competition game is, and how it all flows together. Obviously, his game is very different than what we saw in the averages from the 2012 World Bjj Study, this is what makes him unique. The goal of every competitor should be to develop a set of techniques that you can practice efficiently and effectively that flow together flawlessly. Marcelo may be the best example of this due to his strict adherence to a specific strategy.
