Your Belt Can Keep You Healthy and Safe
Your belt is just like your gi. It can’t make you any better or any worse at jiu jitsu; however, it can foster bacteria, get totally nasty, and get tangled up in your finger and toes. The secret to minimizing these risks is having a belt that is not filled with lightweight foam, and uses quality materials and manufacturing to ensure that it isn’t a soupy untie-able mess after a day of hard training.
We like the new belts from Fushida, but there are several out on the market that meet the above criteria. But beware, the old foam belts are still in mass production.
Note: Since many ask after these types of videos go up, Tyler is wearing Subculture USA gi in this video, and the new Fushida Sports belt. It was filmed at the new Gracie Humaita St. Louis.
